Bio
1997- 1998 :
Création du 1er groupe de Sofian , compositions et différents covers rock « EXPLICIT », il écume les différentes scènes Parisiennes et de banlieues .
Le groupe est alors retenu pour représenter la France pour le 2ème EUROCKZIC par le Forum de Vauréal « 95 » scène de musique actuelle reconnue aujourd’hui.
Il enregistre au studio de l’Abbaye de Goussainville Dans le Val d’Oise son premier EP deux titres « First «
Fin de l’aventure parisienne pour un départ en Guadeloupe.
2000 – 2008 :
Création en Guadeloupe du groupe « ULTIMATOME » de compositions et Tributes divers dont U2 .
Sofian, créateur , a une envie irrésistible de reprendre la scène, tout d’abord avec des reprises mais le désir de composer et de sortir les textes des tiroirs est plus forte.
2009
arrivée à l’Ile de la Réunion, l’aventure musicale reprend.
2010 – 2011 :
La première rencontre avec Nicolas Morillon, guitariste, batteur de formation , met le duo dans une énergie Pop Rock.
Puis vient la rencontre avec Alexandre Nakos, sampler.
La musique électro se mélange et change la couleur.
Le concept est né……il devient collectif ULICOYS et dans des styles très différents : Pop-Rock , Electro , Chanson Française, Fusion
Pour les curieux qui posent toujours la question : Ulicoy est une déclinaison instrumentale du langage Russe qui signifie « rue «.
A été ajouté un «S» pour le symbole du 7 ( les 7 notes de la musique, les 7 jours de la semaine , les 7 jours de la création…)
Nous racontons dans notre musique ce qui se passe dans les rues du monde, la rue, théâtre de scènes d’apprentissage, de révolutions, de peines et de joies….
Sofian n’abandonne pas pour autant l’univers du Rock dont il est issu. Il se laisse aller au fil des rencontres musicales enrichissantes, s’adapte et sa musique évolue.
2012 -2013 :
Auteur, compositeur , interprète, Sofian tente sa chance afin de « tester ses compositions » au tremplin musical « Zikmeup » et termine en finale nationale avec deux nouveaux musiciens rencontrés à Paris, Denis Kichtchenko ,batteur venant du Jazz et Pierre-Vincent Bosser, guitariste, arrangeur, World musique et Post-Punk.
Revenu à l’Ile de la Réunion, il partage la scène avec Dimitri Conte , guitariste, intéressé au projet Ulicoys , Jean Rassiga ( clavier de Ziskakan), bassiste et Gérard Teyssier, batteur, arrangeur, puis Dorian , batteur électro ( Zadig 2.0 et Abazdabu )
C’est une nouvelle collaboration sur les compositions de Sofian , les reprises sont abandonnées. Le spectacle se rôde.
2014 :
Le groupe « Ulicoys « a le plaisir d’être choisi pour faire la première partie au Kabardock ( Le Port 974 ) du groupe « La Femme » album récompensé aux Victoires de la Musique.
Entre temps il continue la création dans un style plutôt électro et sort un nouvel EP de deux titres « Mid Road « avec Pascal Coguen, arrangeur sampler « 120 BPM « en France.
En juin , il est invité à participer à la 2ème fête de la musique organisée dans la ville de Saint-Agathe des Mons au Canada avec le guitariste auteur compositeur Denis Carignan.
Il enregistre là un single « Stop the Silence ».
2015 :
L’aventure continue pour une saison de 6 mois à écumer les scènes Réunionnaises, Dijonnaise et Parisienne, tout en continuant l’écriture de nouveaux textes et musique pour préparer l’entrée en studio , enregistrer l’album de cette épopée et des expériences diverses.
Viens le dilemme de chanter ses textes en Anglais ou en Français ?
Ayant toujours chanté les succès de ses idoles Anglo Saxonne, le choix se porte finalement sur les deux langues.
2016 :
Les arrangements se peaufinent , tournée des scènes Réunionnaises en groupe avec cinq musiciens et en duo.
Départ pour le festival Rock en Bar’s 2016 afin de tester avec un public inconnu, ses nouvelles compositions reçoivent un accueil favorable auprès de la scène locale.
Nouveau membre du collectif arrivé en septembre 2016 le guitariste Tom Lebreton.
Il entre enfin en studio pour graver ces années d’émotions sur un album , travail accompagné par un directeur artistique /arrangeur Léo Levanti , tout en préparant 3 clips de promotion de celui- ci.
2017 :
Sortie de l’ album « Exister » de dix titres et quatre clips en auto-production.
A présent le projet est assez mature pour démarcher et convaincre des labels ainsi que de gros festivals.
Ulicoys reprend la route pour plusieurs dates prévues en Guadeloupe, Réunion et France métropolitaine .
2018 :
Sortie de l’album « Invisible « de 8 titres acoustique en auto-production dans le format physique ainsi que digitale disponible sur toutes les plateformes d’écoute et de téléchargement « ITune, Weezer, Spotify, Amazone…. »
Réalisations de 2 clips pour la promotion de l’album « Invisible » visible sur Youtube, Facebook….
Résidence au Palaxa pour « roder » le spectacle des titres de l’album « Invisible »
plusieurs concerts à la Réunion et en métropole .
Le collectif accueille Will Tambouran à la guitare, Kenny Annicke à la basse et Philippe Trottin à la batterie pour préparer le nouvel album rock « Life is crazy ».
s’en suit plusieurs concerts pour présenter les nouveaux morceaux.

2019 :
Promotion des deux albums sur les scènes Réunionnaises et hors département dont une mini tournée mi mai en Guadeloupe qui nous reçoit pour la troisième année.
Un nouvel album 12 titres est en préparation accompagné de 2 clips tournage prévu cet été.
La personnalité musicale de Sofian à travers le périple Ulicoys s’affine.
L’objectif est de ne pas « tuer » sa création .
Son désir de compositions originales dans des genres musicaux différents au gré des rencontres et de l’histoire de sa Vie est pour Sofian un partage essentiel avec ses musiciens venant d’horizons musicaux variés.
C’est ce qui fait la richesse « d’Ulicoys ».

1997-1998:
Creation of Sofian’s first band, “EXPLICIT” with original compositions and different rock covers, he moves between the different music scenes in Paris and the suburbs.
The band was chosen to represent France for the 2nd EUROCZIC by the Forum de Vauréal “95” still a current music scene today.
He recorded his first two track single, “First” at the Abbaye de Goussainville Studio in the French department of Val d’Oise.
This ended the Parisien adventure and he moved to the island of Guadeloupe in the French West Indies.
2000-2008
The band “ULTIMATOME” was born in Guadeloupe with various compositions and Tributes to bands such as U2.
As a creator, Sofian had the urge to hit the scene harder at first with cover songs but his desire to compose music and and use his tucked away lyrics was stronger.
He arrived on the shores of the french Island of Reunion in 2009 and his musical adventure continues.
2010-2011
His meeting with the guitarist and professional drummer Nicolas Morillon gave the duo its Pop Rock energy. He then met up with the sampler Alexandre Nakos and from the fusion with electro grew new musical colours.
The concept was born… it became the collective ULICOYS touching very different music styles: Pop-rock, Electro, French popular music, Fusion.
For the more curious who ask the question, “Ulicoy is an instrumental declination of the russian language meaning “street”. The “S” was added to symbolise 7 (the 7 musical notes, the 7 days of the week, the 7 days of creation..)”.
“Our music is about what is happening on the streets of the world, the street being the theatre stage of trial and apprenticeship, revolutions, pain and joy…
Sofian does not however abandon the Rock scene from which he came. He lets himself drift through enriching musical encounters, adapting and evolving in his music.
2012-2013
Music writer, composer and singer, Sofian tries his luck and “tests” his compositions (in Paris) at the musical springboard “Zikmeup” and makes it through to the National final with two new musicians met in Paris; Denis Kichtchenko a drummer from a jazz background and Vincent Bosser, guitarist, arranger, World music and Post-Punk.
After the musical springboard Sofian back in Reunion island, he shares the stage with the guitarist Dimitri Conte who is interested in the Ulicoys project, bass player Jean Rassiga (keyboard player for the group Ziskakan), drummer and arranger Gérard Teyssier and then the electro drummer, Dorian (Groups Zadig 2.0 and Abazdabu).
This is a new collaboration working on Sofian’s compositions and marks the end of cover songs. The show gains experience.
2014:
The ULICOYS band is honoured to be chosen to play at the Kabardock (Le Port 974) the opening act of the group “La Femme” who’s album won an award at the Victoires de la Musique.
All this time Sofian continues his creations in a rather electro style and releases “Mid Road” another two track single with sampler and arranger, Pascal Coguen (120 BPM) in continental France.
In June, Sofian is invited to participate in the second “fête de la musique” organised in the city of Saint-Agathe des Mons, Canada, with guitarist and composer,Denis Carignan.
2015:
The adventure continues for six months playing on multiple stages in Reunion, Dijon and Paris all the while writing new lyrics and music, preparing the way for more studio and to record the album of these epic times and diverse experiences.
Then came the dilemma of choosing between french or english lyrics. Having always sung the success hits of his Anglo-Saxon idoles, the choice to sing in both languages was made.
2016:
Finishing touches are put to the arrangements, touring multiple scenes in Reunion with five musiciens or duo.
Departure for the 2016 Rock en Bar festival to put his work to the test in front of a new public, Sofian’s compositions were well received by the local music scene.
The guitarist, Tom Lebreton became a new member of the Ulicoys collective in September.
He finally makes it back into studio to engrave his years of emotion onto an album, overseen by artistic director/arranger, Leo Levanti and 4 promotional clips for the album are under preparation.
2017:
The autonomously produced album “Exister” containing 10 tracks and 4 video clips was released. Now the project has gained sufficient maturity to seek out and convince professional labels and big- time festivals.
Ulicoys is back on the road for several dates in Guadeloupe, Reunion and continental France.
2018:
Release of the album « Invisible » of 8 acoustic titles in auto-production in the physical format as well as digital available on all listening and downloading platforms « ITune, Weezer, Spotify, Amazon …. »
Achievements of 2 clips for the promotion of the album « Invisible » visible on Youtube, Facebook ….
Residence at the Palaxa to « break in » the show of the titles of the album « Invisible »

Promotion of the two albums on the Reunion and out of department scenes including a mini tour mid May in Guadeloupe which receives us for the third year.
A new album 12 tracks is in preparation with 2 clips filming this summer.
Sofian’s musical personality through the Ulicoys experience is becoming more defined.
The objective is not to “kill” his creation.
The desire for original works in different music styles, stemming from diverse encounters and Sofian’s own story of life is an essential sharing with his musicians coming from varied musical horizons.
All this is the recipe for “Ulicoys” rich success.
